So I was listening to Jonathan McReynolds’ album, Make Room, and it was great. One of the main songs on there is “Cycles”, which talks about how the devil wants us to keep falling into the same mistakes and trials we have been having so we’ll never really be freed. He wants to keep us in cycles of falling back into fear, pride, low self-esteem, depression, and doubt. The devil knows that if he can keep us preoccupied with the same sins, we or even our whole family has been dealing with, we will never see real growth and triumph over the temptations that haunt us. One of my favorite lines from the song is, “See the devil learns from your mistakes, even if you don't. That's how he keeps you in cycles, but I’m not going in cycles.”

After the song, Jonathan goes into a testimony that I really liked. He begins to talk about how there are two types of people when it comes to rollercoasters. There is one group that holds on tight and waits for the ride to end. They tense up, close their eyes, and pray that the ride ends. The second group is totally different. They get on excited and just throw their arms up and scream. The second group has no worries, they just enjoy the ride for what it is. The first group may seem like they are more calm and collected but on the contrary, they are feeling each turn and dip to the fullest. They feel the drops way more than the people who just let go and enjoy the ride because they bottle the strain up inside of them and try to deal with it in their own power.

God may have you on a rollercoaster ride in your life. It may feel like it's just a string of ups and downs that have no real purpose but I'm here to tell you that if you just let go and let Him take control, this rollercoaster of life will take a turn for your good. If you feel like you're just going through cycles of ups and downs, maybe God is just waiting for you to throw your hands up and just trust Him. Let the person who designed this ride guide you through it. LET GO! Yes, it is hard. Trust is scary, but I guarantee it is THE MOST beneficial thing a person can do. Let God do His job!

Proverbs 3:5-6 is a very overused and under-appreciated memory verse. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” We all know and love to quote this verse but we don't really take into account how powerful it actually is. Yo, think about this. If I trust in the Lord, just trust, we can let Him take control of my life and He will win my battles for me.

If there was a Pace translation it would go something like this, “Let go cause you don’t know what you’re doing, but God does and will take over if you let Him.” You don't have to really do that much. The trust with all your heart part sounds like a lot but it’s honestly not. We make trust way harder than it needs to be. Have you ever expected to fall asleep in the back seat during a car ride? My brother makes fun of me for how much I use this analogy but that's really all we gotta do. We have to step aside, give God the keys, and chill while He takes us to where we need to be. Just relax and let Him drive! Just throw your hands up, take your hair out, kick your feet up.. THE WHOLE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE PROMISES TO DO ALL THE WORK IN OUR LIVES IF WE JUST GIVE HIM PERMISSION. Yo, Idk bout you but that sounds like a great deal to me...
